My feet strayed into her circle of light My eyes asked "Which way is right?" Her warm glow kept dark at bay She shrugged as if "Who is to say?" But, to my course she made a correction And set me off in the right direction
In perfect darkness, with outstretched hands My map was useless, I was utterly astray. In the distance I saw a lovely shimmer she turned her light to show my way.
She bent her head, and examined my map, holding up first north, and then finally south She turned to me, glowed brighter still Then shoved my map into her mouth.
Her sharpened teeth tore it to shreds Her eyes gleamed though they were coated with Frost Her light went out, and a voice hissed in my ear My dear now you are truly lost.
